Following the Original Outbreak of the Rage Virus in Great Britain, General Stone was chosen to lead a NATO force, under U.S. military supervision, to secure the Isle of Dogs and begin repatriating London there with British refugees and survivors.
Twenty-eight weeks after the Original Outbreak, when Alice Harris was found and brought back to District One, Stone watched Scarlet examine her. Later, when Scarlet discovered that Alice was a carrier of Infection, he ordered that Alice be killed to avoid another outbreak of the Rage Virus; but when Stone and his men reached Alice's isolation cell, they found that the Infection had already begun to spread in the Green Zone.
Stone and the other high-ranking officers were subsequently moved to a safe control bunker, where Stone ordered Code Red be executed to contain the Rage outbreak, and watched from the bunker as Code Red failed to stop the spread of Infection and District One was wiped out. After District One was firebombed in an effort to eradicate the Rage Virus, Stone watched on a surviving camera as hordes of surviving Infected escaped into the ruined London.
Stone was a stern and serious man who showed little to no emotion. Like many others, he was convinced that the Rage Virus was dead, up until the Second Outbreak. Even as the Second Outbreak spread out of control and even the enactment of Code Red was not enough to suppress it, Stone remained calm and continued giving orders to the soldiers under his command.
- In an earlier script for 28 Weeks Later, Stone is instead a medic who examines the body of an infected boy found in a tank in an aquarium.
- Another early script cast Stone as a steel-gray-haired white soldier, who was to appear in additional scenes like one where he was to lead a group of journalists toward Don, Tammy and Andy Harris as the three reunite, telling the press "This is what it's all about."
- BG Stone wears the Combat Infantry Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge and Ranger Tab, all of which fits with his status as a senior commissioned officer in the 82nd Airborne Division.
