In 28 Days Later
During the Original Outbreak of the Rage Virus, when the British Army set up several military blockades in and around Manchester to protect the city from the Infected, the 42nd Blockade was set up on the M602 twenty-seven miles northeast of Manchester. During the outbreak, when the military checkpoints were overrun, the Infected breached and overran the 42nd blockade, killing all the soldiers stationed at it, except for Major Henry West and eight of his men.
28 Days Later
Thirty-one days into the outbreak, Jim, Frank, Hannah and Selena travel on the M602 to the abandoned 42nd blockade, following a broadcast sent by Major West. There, Frank is infected when a drop of blood from an infected soldier's corpse falls into his eye, and is killed by two of Major West's soldiers, who then take the remaining three to the nearby Worsley House in the woods.
The next day, Jim returns to the blockade on the M602 and uses the blockade siren to lure Major West and Davis to the blockade (as well as several Infected from the woods). After Jim kills Davis and disables the jeep West and Davis arrived in, Jim and Major West leave the blockade and return to the Worsley House on foot.
