The Isle of Dogs is a former island in the East End of London that is surrounded on three sides (east, south and west) by one of the largest meanders in the River Thames. To the north, are the West India Docks, and the only road access to the island is across the two bridges that cross the eastern and western entrances to the dock.
In 28 Days Later[]
Mark and Selena used a Newsagents in the London Underground beneath Canary Wharf as a hideout, until, twenty-nine days after the Rage Virus broke out, they and Jim left the Newsagents to go to Deptford and find Jim's parents. (28 Days Later (film))
After a US-led NATO force entered London, the Isle of Dogs was secured and converted into District One, the first secure and quarantined area in Britain suitable for repatriation after the Original Outbreak of Infection. British survivors and refugees then began returning to London from Europe as new civilians in District One, while the US Army continued to decontaminate the rest of London.
When a Second Outbreak of the Rage Virus started in the Green Zone and Code Red was executed, District One was quarantined and eventually firebombed by the Air Cavalry in a failed effort to contain the Infection. (28 Weeks Later, 28 Days Later (comic series))
