Hugh Baker was a survivor of the Rage Virus after it originally decimated Great Britain, and one of the few who stayed behind in London.
Biography[]
Hugh ran a popular newsagents in Piccadilly, with the population calling him "the Screamer", and lived with his wife, whom he loved very much. During the Original Outbreak of the Rage Virus, while most of the other survivors fled London when the city was overrun, Hugh, being a patriot at heart, stayed behind. Hugh watched over the ruined city, fighting the Infected there and luring them into ambushes with perfume and mannequins.
28 Days Later: The Aftermath[]
Twenty-nine - thirty-two days into the outbreak, Hugh was almost killed by two Infected, when another survivor arrived and killed the Infected before turning his guns on an ungrateful Hugh. Thus, Hugh declared war on the hunter, and defeated him by dousing him in perfume, alerting the Infected in the area to the hunter's location. Hugh watched the Infected tear the hunter to shreds, when he saw three US Army surveillance jets fly overhead.
Shocked at the sight of the jets, Hugh shot at them, and was thus captured and taken to a quarantine camp against his will. At the camp, when Hugh made a hostile attempt to escape the soldiers, he was put into isolation. There, Hugh met and befriended Sid, and convinced him, Clive and Sophie that the soldiers probably had dark plans for them and that they had to try and escape the camp with him. The next night, Hugh and the others tried to escape the camp by posing as personnel, and Hugh was gunned down when he attempted to buy the others time to escape.
Personality[]
Hugh became highly tough and anti-social due to his experiences in the aftermath of the Rage outbreak. He was also a patriot at heart, and was shown to be paranoid. Despite his paranoia of some people, he was still able to form friendships with others, and even sacrificed himself alongside Sid so Clive and Sophie could escape.
