George W. Bush, was the 43rd president of the United States, serving from 2001 - 2009. During his time in office, events such as the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York and eventual War on Terror had occurred, most notably with conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Since the events of both 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later occurred during the 2000s, Bush would have been the commander and chief during the Rage virus outbreak in Great Britain and the eventual secondary outbreak in Europe. Bush would have oversaw the quarantine and eventual rebuilding of the U.K. after the Rage virus swept the country. As part of the NATO operation to resettle the country, the U.S. may have also help to reestablish or recreate the British government - similar to Iraq after the 2003 invasion in our timeline. After the second outbreak and eventual spread of the virus to mainland Europe, President Bush may have ordered a complete evacuation of all American citizens (Tourists and Diplomats) from the European continent - combined with a full scale deployment of US troops to help with the defence of NATO members (most notably France and Germany, the latter of which has a sizeable presence of U.S. troops based there before the first and second outbreaks).
